Hi Brain Stormers,
My online community is the best. When you’re stuck at home feeling alone and miserable, it’s nothing short of essential to connect with other folks who are dealing with the same crap. However, chatting with spoonies in person has been even more helpful. Chatting with people who live with frequent/severe migraine has been the best.
I’ve got something new to offer those of you in Toronto or the GTA. With the help of a new friend-with-migraine, I am starting a local peer support group. To start, we will exist as closed Facebook group, and aim to hold quarterly meetings at an accessible downtown location.
Migraine Toronto Guidelines
Migraine Toronto strives to foster an inclusive and safe space, both online and in person. To that end, we ask that you agree to the following guidelines.
- Self-determination: We operate from the standpoint that each person with migraine understands their own needs best. Thus, members are encouraged to speak from their own knowledge and experience, but are asked to refrain from criticizing the treatment choices of fellow members.
- Confidentiality: Information shared within the group should stay within the group. Issues raised by the group may be discussed broadly outside of the group, but specific names or personal identifiers may not be used.
- Inclusivity: Migraine Toronto strives to be accessible, anti-racist, anti-sexist, body positive, and LGBTTQ2 friendly. Members are asked to treat each other with dignity and respect at all times, and to engage in self-reflection and/or conflict-resolution processes should the upholding of this guideline come into question. Harassment or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
- Personal Use: Any Migraine Toronto online site, including but not limited to the Facebook group, and any group meetings will not be used by any member for the promotion of goods, services or treatments.
